Three Easy Tips to Speed Up PC by Zj2431
First of all, there are two ways to make your computer run faster: hardware and software. Hardware boosting involves upgrading and adding new components to the computer to increase its speed and performance. Typical upgrades include installing more memory, purchasing a better motherboard or getting a better processor.Software optimization, on the other hand, does not require purchasing anything; it only requires that you optimize and fine tune your software set up and installation to make your computer run faster. Here are a few ways to accomplish this type of optimization.
1) Uninstall unwanted programs to speed up PC
Your computer is running slow because the resources it has are being taken up by programs / tasks which you don’t need. One of the biggest ways that computer resources are taken up is through programs running in the background. This basically means that programs such as Microsoft Outlook and AOL Instant Messenger might not be being used, but they are constantly running invisibly… without you even knowing it… taking up valuable system memory.
There are lots of programs which do this, and you can easily stop them eating away at your system resources by simply uninstalling all the ones you don’t need. To do this, click on START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD / REMOVE PROGRAMS. In there, you’ll find all the programs on your PC. If you see any you don’t need, just click the ‘uninstall’ button!
Note – if you see a program and don’t know what it does, you must research it before uninstalling it. It’s easy to uninstall a program that you need and putting it back on your system is never fun.
2) Remove any unwanted files to speed up PC
If you have downloaded a lot of files, or just have a buildup of files on your hard drive, then it’s well worth your time removing as many you can find. This is important because Windows likes to keep a “running total” of the files you have on your machine. It does this every time you start your PC up (it’s called ‘indexing’) and the more files you have, the longer it takes and the more resources it uses.
To fix this, just browse through your hard drive and remove and files which you don’t want / need. The more files you delete, the faster your PC will get. HINT – You should always try and delete files by hitting SHIFT & DELETE. This permanently deletes files instead of just sending them to the recycle bin.
3) Clean out the registry to speed up PC
The registry is the central database of your PC. Everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper are stored in this database and it’s vitally important to the smooth operation of your machine. Every day, more and more files in the registry become corrupt or lost. This means that your computer spends more time trying to find them, which slows it down. In order to fix this, you can use a simple registry cleaner to scan through the registry database and fix all the damaged files. This will speed up your PC and improve its lifespan, as well!
